BCC at Chapman University

While in the area recently, I visited Chapman University.

A few takeaways from my visit:

  • Located in heart of Orange County (actually in the city of Orange), Chapman is a medium-sized, private university with 7,874 undergraduate students. Downtown Orange is only a few blocks from campus offering restaurants and antique shops galore.

  • Chapman operates on a 4-1-4 program, offering a Fall Semester and Spring Semester with a 1 month Interterm in between. Interterm is included in the price of tuition and allows students to complete a semester long course in the month of January (or take a really long winter break!).

  • Business and Film are the biggest majors at Chapman. The Dodge School of Film and Media Arts is ranked the 4th best film school in the country and offers unique majors like Writing for Film and Telvision, Animation and Visual Effects, and Creative Producing.

  • The largest employer of students at Chapman is the university itself, which prioritizes work opportunities for students. The second largest employer of Chapman students is Disneyland located only six miles away. In fact, our tour guide pointed out where Disneyland’s nightly fireworks can be best seen and enjoyed from campus.

  • The Chapman campus felt homey (if a bit small) and welcoming to me. The Fish Interfaith Center was one of the most beautiful, inclusive buildings I’ve seen on any college campus. I think Chapman would be a great place for a business or film student looking to be close to LA, yet in a small-town, suburban environment.

Go Panthers!
