My latest read, “What Colleges Don’t Tell You (and Other Parents Don’t Want You to Know)”, is a collection of 272 college admissions “secrets” to help parents position their kids for success in college admissions.
The format is very readable and easy to digest in short sittings (certainly helpful for busy parents of teens). While you may not agree with all her advice, you’ll likely come away with a new idea or resource that is valuable in preparing your child for college admissions.
I particularly like her “College Visits” chapter with thoughtful tips like, “The laundry room in a dormitory can sometimes give you an insight into the safety and sense of trust on campus.” Or, “When you visit the campus library, look to see if anyone uses it”. Yes! It’s important to look beyond the campus quad and most visible parts of campus to see what student life is really like on campus.
