BCC at Cal Poly Pomona

A recent trip in the area led me to visit Cal Poly Pomona, located 30 miles east of Los Angeles in a serene setting in the foothills.

Cal Poly Pomona is one of two polytechnic universities in the California State University system (the other being Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) focusing on a learn-by-doing approach to education. Admission to Cal Poly Pomona is less selective than Cal Poly SLO, offering a great opportunity to explore a hands-on learning approach to a wider range of academic backgrounds. Thirty-nine percent of students pursue STEM majors, with top-enrolled programs being mechanical engineering, civil engineering, biology, and computer science.

Cal Poly Pomona prides itself on its accessibility, affordability, and close interaction between students and faculty. And best of all: there are cows on campus! I loved the on-campus Farm Store offering fresh produce grown by Agriculture students, and providing students with an opportunity to learn about food production from start to finish.

With 23 campuses, there is so much to explore within the California State University system. Rising seniors applying to the CSU system for Fall 2022 can start their applications on October 1. Let me know how I can help your student find their best fit campus!
